Last season, the Atlanta Braves dedicated a permanent seat of honor in their SunTrust Park Stadium, to the nations POW’s/MIA’s and to those servicemen and women killed in action.

With it stands a plaque which reads:

‘Since World War I, more than 92,000 American soldiers are unaccounted for. This unoccupied seat is dedicated to the memory of these brave men and woman and to the sacrifices made in serving this country.’

A Marine Corps JROTC member and student from the local Parkview High School was called to stand at attention at the memorial.

During the third inning, the light drizzle started to come down heavy.

Then a fan from two sections over walked over to the cadet, and sheltered him from the rain with his umbrella.

For 17 minutes, until the rain cleared.

The entire time, this gentleman had his head bowed.

Afterwards, he walked back to his seat and refused any and all comment and wanted to remain anonymous.

The Braves organization had but one word to say about this act.

 “Respect”

This is right on so many levels.
